It took longer than normal to find the time, but I finally got all the video uploaded to Youtube from the The Shins playing at Horse Shoe Casino. It seems I take more and more video at every show- and have less and less time to process it all. The whole show was awesome, but I decided to go with “New Slang” as the highlight of the show. Before I go into why I enjoyed it, I do want to say how disappointed I was that they didn’t play “Fall of ’82” that I blogged about before the show.
Why I Like It: “New Slang” was their first big single, but it remains to be the song the showcases what they’re all about. The outdoor venue at Horse Shoe Casino along with the Great American Insurance building in the background really emphasized the emotion of the song. Especially since they threw it in between a couple of their more up tempo songs.
The Rest Of The Show: was hands-down one of the best concerts I’ve seen in a while. Part of that obviously has to do with how much I like The Shins, but also because of the atmosphere. Horse Shoe Casino turned out to be a great venue, it wasn’t too crowded, and the weather was perfect. You can see all the video I took on my Youtube page, or embedded below. They are in the order of the set list (except for “New Slang“).
